With 2 engraved frontispieces, of which one allegorical, by Giuseppe Baroni after Luca Carlevaris, one table, one astronomical plate, 4 plates depicting numerous flags, and 24 plates, of which 13 full-page, 11 folding, and 5 with movable parts, depicting all kinds of nautic instruments, a Venetian galleon, and numerous tables, figures and diagrams. (16), 295 pp. First edition of a very rare Italian work covering all aspects of navigation, by Girolamo Albrizzi, a Venetian editor and printer from a noble family, originally coming from Bologna, and living in Palazzo Albrizzi, better known as the 'Ca' d'Oro'. In this work he deals amongst others with astronomical and cosmographical matters, such as the sun, moon, planets, signs of the zodiac, etc., the nautic calender, navigational instruments, such as the boussole, different types of maps and charts, for example hydrographical maps, and theoretical and mathematical problems concerning navigation.
